Third Frames: Cambridge Footlights

The legendary Cambridge Footlights invaded the weekly Sketch Comedy Lounge at the Rivoli in Toronto on Tuesday night, with their latest show Pretty Little Panic. Their solid hour of energetic, fast-transitioning sketches, is on a mini North American tour after a summer full of dates through England and the Edinborough Fringe Festival.

Frankly, it’s easy to have medium expectations of a group known primarily – at least on this side of the pond – for its list of distinguished alumni. But it doesn’t take long to accept that yes, we likely are watching the next Hugh Laurie or Sacha Baron Cohen. Incredibly solid performers with an equally solid show.

Up next for the boys:

Friday, September 16 – Carnegie Mellon University McConomy Auditorium, Pittsburgh, PA
Sunday, September 18 – Philly Improv Theater Adrienne Theatre Main Stage, Philadelphia, PA
Tuesday, September 20 – ImprovBoston, Boston, MA
Friday September 23 – UCB Theatre, New York, NY
