Conan writers: Punching up the clock

While the writers from the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien didn’t win the Creative Arts Emmy this weekend, there IS some good news to come out of the event: the writers’ b-roll was produced.

Arguably the best part of the annual Emmy broadcast is the video produced by each nominated late night show that runs while the writers’ names are read out. Each show does something topical or clever, but there was uncertainty whether we’d see these again now that the Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Program has been annexed to the Creative Arts edition of the Emmys.

But trust Team Conan to come to our rescue. The thumbnail gives away the main joke, but there are a few additional treats within. Here’s hoping the other shows’ reels exist – and that we’ll see them when the Creative Arts Emmys airs on E! August 27.
